Transport

The conference organisers will not be providing any transport (although we will be happy to assist with directions and information about public transport).

For information about public transport options and connections in Sydney, please visit the Transport Infoline (or call 131500). Some specific details and additional options are included below for your convenience.

Parking

There is parking available on campus for a fee (1hr $6.00, 3hrs $10.00, 4+hrs $19.00), these permits last until 8pm.

Airport

Sydney Airport is located approximately 8 km outside the CBD, and about 20 km from Macquarie University. It is easily accessible by car, train, and taxi, and less so by bus.

Taxi is probably the most convenient way to travel to and from the airport, particularly if there is more than one person or if you have luggage. Taxi ranks are located outside the both the international and domestic terminal buildings, and fares are about $70 to MQ, and about $12 to the CBD.

Shuttle buses to MQ cost about $40 per person (less for bookings of two or more people) and can be booked by contacting Hills Airport Shuttle.

Trains

Macquarie University has its own train station on the CityRail network which is Sydney's metro and subway line. Travel from the airport to MQ takes between one and two transfers and approximately 1 hr. Tickets cost $16.80 one way, for more information please see the Airport Link Directions (please also note, that the student rate does not apply to international students, even those living in Australia)

Trackwork is common and time consuming on weekends in Sydney, so be sure to check for it and allow extra travel time if necessary.

Buses

There are regular buses from campus to the CBD. Bus numbers 288, 290, and 294 all head towards the city, and these depart regularly. The buses travel over the Harbour Bridge and drop passengers on York St at either Wynyard or Town Hall stations.

Bus fares to the city are $4.80 for a single adult fare ($2.40 for students). The bus travel time to the city is about 40 minutes, but can be up to an hour in peak times.

Other Sydney Buses destinations from the area include Parramatta, Auburn, Chatswood and North Sydney.
