AP_6f12_102f8_900GTO_06.jpg Astro-Physics APO Refractors and 900GTO Mount:

My current telescope setup is made up of an Astro-Physics
6 inch f /12 triplet APO and an Astro-Physics Starfire 102
f /8 triplet APO mounted piggy back on an Astro-Physics AP 900GTO CP3 computerized go-to mount with an A-P 42 inch Portable Pier.  The two scopes balance nicely with three 10 lb A-P weights.

The picture at left shows the setup drift aligned to the southern hemisphere sky next to a sliding door, from which about a third of the ecliptic is visible.  This is a useful way of using the setup during weeknights when I don't have time to disassemble the entire setup and take it outside.  The 42 inch pier is short enough to allow me to get more of the outside sky when set up indoors, although I do have to sit on phone books when looking up near the top of the ecliptic.
For use outdoors, I sometimes use JMI Wheeley Bars with 5 inch wheels, which raises the pier mount to a more usable 49 inches.

This latter photo is a better perspective view of the home made mounting plate for the piggy back A-P Starfire 102, which was designed to shift the balance point a bit to the focuser side.

Further description of the individual components of the above telescope setup, as well as the eyepieces I use, are available by clicking on the relevant links on the left hand menu.
