Alan Vaughan's Home Page

Welcome to my homepage. I am a Senior Lecturer in Physics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Apart from Physics units, I teach Astronomy and Astrophysics units and supervise Honours and Postgraduate students in Astronomy . My research area is astronomy. Initially working with pulsars and then active stars I now find most of my research is associated with projects of my various students, although more recently I have become involved in the re-measurement of 100yr-old astronomical plates to determine stellar proper motions. I am also increasingly active with taking astronomy to the community through the Macquarie University Foundation for Astronomy of which I am the Executive Officer.

I am also an elder of the Presbyterian Church of Australia in NSW currently worshipping at the Wahroonga congregation which I helped found in 1977.

I am married with three children and three grandchildren and live in Berowra Heights, to the north of Sydney.
