Why Biophotonics and Nanotechnology?
I have liked physics since I was in high school and chose it as my major when I entered university. What I am doing is interesting enough to make me keep on working. It’s very addictive. This is because science has the power to bring passion and magic to life. You get satisfaction and confidence during your work.
My Project
My current project is focussed on synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles and their skin permeability evaluation. Broadly speaking, I am researching whether or not those nano-scale products are safe enough to be applied daily. What measures should we take if they are harmful? How can we avoid the disadvantages come with high technology, and just enjoy the merit and convenience it promises? My project is thus interesting and meaningful My current project is focussed on synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles and their skin permeability evaluation. Why Macquarie?
To be honest, I did not choose Macquarie until I found my supervisor Andrei’s post on “tiptop” (a website for Physicist) by chance. The proposed project was exactly what I wanted to do. Meanwhile, Andrei’s kindness, patience, integrity and dedication deeply impressed me. When I browsed the homepage of Macquarie, I found that the Faculty of Science had almost all the advanced equipment for this project and related research work. At Macquarie we don’t have a lot of stress, yet we do have challenge and opportunity. There is not only research work. Life is balanced. We can act as true individuals who are enthusiastic about work and life.
The future?
I do not have specific plans. I will spend three more years to achieve my PhD degree. From now on I’m going to work as hard as I can and see what happens. After that, I might try to find a job at an institute or university to pursue my research.
