BIOPHOTONICS offers enormous benefits for the early detection of diseases and a new dimension for therapies and is leading to a new range of technologies being developed which have huge commercial rewards world wide, yet few people outside the academic research field are familiar with its capabilities or potential.
DR. PRASAD has published over 500 scientific papers, co-edited six books. Dr. Prasad published "Introduction to Biophotonics," the first monograph in this field, which authoritatively defines the field, details its scope and identifies emerging opportunities. He has published another monograph "Nanophotonics" which includes its impact on Nanomedicine.
He will discuss the emerging state of the technology, examples of companies using biophotonic technologies, what are the present predictions as to its future (blue sky) and how it will be applied across several complementary fields of enterprise.
The Australian Research Network for Fluorescence Applications in Biotechnology and Life Sciences (FABLS) inspires and coordinates research programs relating to applications of fluorescence that require a high degree of interaction between biology, physics, chemistry, bioengineering and medicine. The FABLS network includes 121 researchers and industry representatives.
Presentation will be followed at 4.30 with refreshments and networking and an opportunity to meet many internationally recognised Biophotonic researchers
