Space to Grow
Access to Telescopes - Applying for Time and Requesting Data
The Faulkes Telescopes: Space to Grow project has limited access time for the two x 2-metre, professional-grade telescopes located at Siding Spring Observatory in New South Wales Australia (aerial view left) and the Hawaiian Island of Maui (right). |
As the Siding Spring site is in our timezone, potential observing sessions would generally be scheduled too late for students to use during school hours. However, the Hawaiian site tends to open up around at 4pm-6pm AEST, so there is a potential for an afterschool observing session. If you are interested, please contact us.
While professional astronomers apply for time on telescopes around the world, students involved in the project will be granted access time to obtain data by completing a Request for Images from the Faulkes Telescopes (available shortly). Images are collected robotically at the earliest opportunity by the Faulkes Telescopes, and when they are collected, we will notify you of their arrival with instructions on how to download the images. If you have any queries regarding the Image Request in the interim, please contact our Project Officer Carolyn Dow tel +61 (0)2 9850 8675. |
