Astronomy, Astrophysics & Astrophotonics
Planetarium
Our brand new, state-of-the-art portable planetarium and digital projector system is available, by arrangement, for groups of up to 45 people per session. The planetarium simulates the night sky, including special events such as the transit of Venus or eclipse, allows an up-close look at the surfaces of planets, deep sky objects, and constellations. You will observe the apparent movement of the stars due to the spin of the Earth and our movement around the Sun, travel through space, and see amazing astronomy movies that will blow you away! Presentations can be tailored to the interests and age of your groups.
If you are a highschool teacher/principal and you are interested in the planetarium coming to your school, please contact us at starinfo@mq.edu.au for a quote. The planetarium is a fantastic way to engage and interest students in science.
We are now running hour-long Friday night planetarium shows at Macquarie University from 6:00-7:00 pm. Tickets for these events are available online. Tickets for April-June will be posted soon. Friday night sessions are held in the E7B Courtyard on the Macquarie University campus. Click here for a map.
